- Hybrid of Molecular Catalysts and Semiconductor MaterialsDemands for the energy supply continue to increase so that high dependency on fossil fuels seems to last for a while. However, due to the limited reserves of fossil fuels and air pollution, we have to find a way to utilize alternative energy sources for our next generation. One attractive and promising method is to store solar energy in a chemical energy form. That is, we can transform water, carbon dioxide into solar fuels such as H2, HCO2H, etc. using solar energy.In the research area of solar fuels, the integration of light absorbers with functional catalysts is one of the primary challenges. We synthesize biomimetic transition metal complexes as functional catalysts and develop integration methods with a light-absorbing semiconductor.
